Celebrating 10 YearsApril 2017
It is hard to believe that last Friday marked 10 years since the founding of Ground Floor.
Ground Floor has grown and evolved over the last 10 years. We are the ties that bind government, business, and community. We bring people together and create the blueprints to make big, tangible things happen. Why? Because collaboration is essential to real change.
I think San Francisco, and all cities, need more Ground Floors. Lack of communication and partnership between government and business creates a gap that holds back civic progress and business growth alike. Government cannot operate in a silo. Neither can private industry. Our communities need support from both to thrive and we at Ground Floor are helping to close that gap.
I couldn’t have started this undertaking without the help, encouragement, and support of many people who convinced me to take a risk and go out on my own. The company’s growth and success is due to the efforts of many, and to those people, I want to say thank you.
Thank you to my clients, current and former. Those of you who know me, know that I do not take on a client engagement lightly. I believe that companies can do well by doing good and I seek to work with clients who share that value. I’m proud to say that the work we do together has a direct, positive impact on our community.
Thank you to my team at Ground Floor. I am privileged to work with such a talented group. They give me energy every day. Our team models Ground Floor’s values: they are driven, they are problem solvers, they are versatile, they collaborate with each other, and they are committed to what they do. You have helped me transition from a practice to a firm and together we are building a thriving company.
A final, special thank you to my incredible wife Wendi. In addition to being a world renowned art gallery owner, she has provided me with invaluable advice regarding scale, growth, and systems, which are all vital to the success of any company. Wendi is more than just my partner in life, she inspires me to think big, encourages me to stay focused, and motivates me to follow my instincts.
I named the company Ground Floor for a reason: it is about people and relationships that bring about positive change and it starts with an introduction, a conversation, and action.
Thank you for your ongoing support. To ten more years.
